Yes! We make these gently dehydrated turkey gizzard slices in our own commercial kitchen in Rocklin, CA.
My dog really liked this treat. I took note of another reviewer's concern with her dog being unable to thoroughly chew them. My 140 lb dog had no problems and looked at me for more. Good healthy treat for him.
I know we are all accused of spoiling our dogs. My 4 dogs unanimously voice their love of the turkey gizzards. I don't know if they like the taste or the crunch, but they sure find them appealing. I just like the fact that they contain only one ingredient, turkey gizzard. So they are on my rotation of treats from now on.
I want to start out by saying that we love Campfire products and will continue offering them to our 17lb Mal-Shi. However, I do want to caution anyone with a smaller dog, the Turkey Giblets can be a serious choking hazard as this happened to us on Christmas. These Giblets are in large, very HARD pieces...not softer or freeze-dried and easily chewable. Here is our story: After attempting to cut a smaller giblet into pieces (and failing), we decided to see if our pup could break it up on his own and eat it. He was able to do so with the first smaller piece. However, when we gave him a second, slightly larger piece, he chewed on it for about 30 seconds and swallowed it. It was at that moment (and yes, we were watching him as he ate them!) that we realized he was CHOKING...and not just a quick, normal choke and everything is okay...he was choking and trying to expel the piece for nearly a full, harrowing minute. We were discussing whether we should Heimlich him but thankfully, at that moment, he was able to bring up the Giblet himself, and it was FULL INTACT. We immediately decided that these may not be an appropriate treat for our small dog. (He is Havanese sized for reference) Again, we always supervise our pup whenever he is eating, thankfully. We just felt it was important to make sure other small dog owners who may read reviews are aware of this potential danger. There are many other wonderful treats on Campfire's site, we just think that this may not be a good one for the smaller dog set.
These were sent to my grand-dog and my great-grand dogs in Virginia! I’m told they were a big hit! Well, of course they were!
